Rocker switches are just easier to toggle physically.While on the topic of comparing to rocker switches, comparing this to a rocker switch with a slide dimmer,I don't like that when you turn the lights on, you either press the d im up button to get your lights on at the lowest level, or the on button which turns them on to full blast. The downside to me is that it's not going to take the place of an easy to operate rocker switch.

Setting routines or times for the lights to turn on and at what intensity to illuminate makes is helpful for things like waking up without being blinded by full power lights, turning down the intensity for watching a movie or winding down in the evening, or being able to set the lights to turn on when you're about to get home. I think it's a nice touch to have the lights ramp up and fade out when turned on and off, but some may not like it - and it's not adjustable. It's plenty fast enough for life, but it is not instant like a normal switch. You do NOT have to figure out how the switches were wired! The ONLY possible downside I can come up with is that when you turn these switches on or off, they do so gradually.
For all of the other switch locations you are able to use a much cheaper "Pico" remote switch that looks the same and mounts the same and simply pairs wirelessly to the wired switch. For these situations, only ONE of these switches is actually needed and wired.
The third great thing about these switches is if you have a light controlled by switches in more than one loca tion. These switches completely side-step that whole issue. The router may have a theoretical limit of 255 address, but it can't actually handle more than about 50 simultaneous connections regardless of how little bandwidth is used. This means that you won't overload a typical home WiFi router with too many WiFi devices all seeking an IP address. This is very important if you have a lot of switches that you intend to replace because this system requires only ONE IP address - the one for the hub. The next best reason is that it does not use your WiFi but rather a separate hub. The biggest is that it does not require a neutral wire. This is the best WiFi dimmer switch for several reasons. Truly the best "smart" dimmer switch option! Solved several problems others could not.
